FAQ

I realized I get a lot of the same messages and emails and unfortunately I am not able to spend the time sorting through and replying to everything anymore. I wanted to try and give some thoughtful answers to common questions.

Can I get your work tattooed?

Thank you for asking! Short answer, yes. If you do feel like sending some money my way as a thank you, feel free to tip enough for a beer to my paypal at info@milesjohnstonart.com. I really mean it when I say just do this if you want, I’m always kind of blown away so many people get my drawings tattooed. I feel like I have to emphasize that it is important to reach out to artists with this question, my answer is not universal and I think it is correct to try and get permission, I just can’t take the time to reply to requests individually. Feel free to show this paragraph to a tattoo artist if they ask!

Do you take commissions / Can I license your work for a book/album cover or similar usage?

Again, this is one of those areas where the volume of requests makes it impossible to keep up and reply individually. I feel bad not being able to respond and am always so flattered that people ask. The honest truth is that the time it takes to keep up with demand is not worth it unless the client is in a position to pay a professional fee or it is for a project I am passionate about. Feel free to ask but I tend to be highly selective in taking on anything outside of my schedule of personal work and teaching responsibilities.

Where can I buy originals?

Periodically I have shows with galleries, these will always be highly publicised on my social media and mailing list. Outside of that I don’t tend to sell originals as I am usually building a body of work for the next show.

Where can I buy prints?

The only official signed prints are periodically released with collaborators. The best way to catch one is to be signed up for my mailing list. I go into more detail in the ‘how to collect section’ of my website.

Can I repost your work on social media?

Feel free to repost my work with credit for any non commercial purposes. I should be thanking you for helping me to find new people. I’m not particularly touchy about my work getting around.

Hope that covers some of the more frequent questions, I’ll try to update this from time to time. Essentially, infinite thanks for even caring about my work. I just hope people can understand that I am for the most part a single person operation and prioritize my time and decisions to spend as much of my effort on making my artwork and not being lost in too much admin and emailing.
